No but you do need a Driving School to support your application, they take responsibility to ensure you are provided with the additional 20 hours training required before test.

Is the pass rate for doing this high?

No, in fact it is very low. Teaching someone to drive is a specialist skill and should be considered as such. There are exacting standards the DVSA is looking for.

Is there a quick, cheaper and easier route in?

No, the DVSA are continually ensuring the standards set match the professionalism of the industry and is focused on eliminating those who do not respect or wish to reach those standards.

Can I go on a pink PDI licence independently?

No, the pink PDI licence scheme, which is the best way to gain experience and additional training is designed by the DVSA to ensure PDI’s are continuously supported throughout their development.
