Q: Can I go straight to part 3 test after passing my part 2?
A: Yes

Q: Do I have to do 40 hours of training before going to sit my part 3 test?
A: No, only if you want to take advantage of the DVSA’s pink badge scheme.

Q: Do I have to join a Driving School Franchise to gain a pink PDI badge?
A: No but you do need a Driving School to support your application, they take responsibility to ensure you are provided with the additional 20 hours training required before test.

Q: Is the pass rate for doing this high?
A: No, in fact it is very low. Teaching someone to drive is a specialist skill and should be considered as such. There are exacting standards the DVSA is looking for.

Q: Is there a quick, cheaper and easier route in?
A: No, the DVSA are continually ensuring the standards set match the professionalism of the industry and is focused on eliminating those who do not respect or wish to reach those standards.

Q: Can I go on a pink PDI licence independently?
A: No, the pink PDI licence scheme, which is the best way to gain experience and additional training is designed by the DVSA to ensure PDI’s are continuously supported throughout their development.

Q: What are the options open to me?
A: 1) Get full support from a driving school, gain 40 hours training and then an additional 20 hours pretest training prior to sitting the part 3 test on a pink ADI badge paying as a franchisee to that company.
     2) Get full support from a driving school, gain 40 hours training and then an additional 20 hours pretest training prior to sitting the part 3 test on a pink ADI badge paying for fees upfront.
     3) Find someone to give you pay as you go support and go for test when you think you are ready (It can’t be that hard, right?)
